Great hills entire property transformation
We had the opportunity to transform the front and backyard of this corner lot property in great hills.
We removed invasive species and updated all planting beds with a variety of hardy natives. We built a steel planter to divide the existing patio from the newly installed, steel contained sod patch. We planted zoro zoysia, which is a more waterwise and shade tolerant variety. Behind the sod, we created a decomposed granite walking/dog path. We broke up the dg with lawn sedge plantings around the existing oak trees.
This property had a lot of drainage issues, so we remedied the water issues with a beautiful dry creek bed.
Nestled in the dry creek, we built a fire pit area with native flagstone accent around the ring.
Finally, we extended the patio with a limestone and steel covered patio. This “outdoor kitchen” area has a concrete and steel counter, lighting, and a fan (essential for our texas summers). All rock work, welding, and electric were done in house by Mathis Designs.
